Mickey Brady has championed the people of Newry all his working life. As the first project manager and worker for the Newry Welfare Rights Centre Mickey spent over 30 years fighting in the corner of the socially excluded and powerless.

He served as the Minister for Regional Development from July 2000 until September 2001. He also served as the Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure from June 2008 until June 2009.
